Mr Dr Ash Alam

Mr Alam has been a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist since 2006 and has a particular interest in the modern treatment and management options for heavy, irregular and painful periods and fibroids. He is trained in gynaecological ultrasound and therefore for patient convenience, he is able to offer a service that includes discussion, examination, ultrasound and treatment in the same visit. As a colposcopist he is also able to advise and treat women with abnormal smear tests. If a surgical solution is necessary, Mr Alam is trained in the full range of general gynaecological procedures, including keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery. Mr Alam is keen to promote the use of newer procedures such as endometrial ablation for heavy periods as an alternative to hysterectomy. Some of the newer procedures can be carried out under local anaesthetic if a patient wishes not to undergo a general anaesthetic.
