Mr Andrew Muotune

I attended St Andrew’s University obtaining a BSc in Medical Science in 1988 before attending Manchester University Medical School, graduating in 1991. His training in obstetrics and gynaecology took place in various hospitals throughout the North West region and has encompassed all aspects of the speciality. I was appointed a Consultant at the Royal Bolton Hospital in 2004. My special interests include general gynaecology, laparoscopic surgery and office gynaecology in which I have developed extensive skills in performing both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. I am the clinical leads at the Royal Bolton Hospital for high risk obstetric cases, managing women with complex medical problems. I have developed skills and expertise in the field of fetal medicine and regularly perform detailed fetal ultrasound scanning and diagnostic procedures for women from Bolton and other Trusts across Greater Manchester. I have a dedicated commitment to teaching and previously was Undergraduate Tutor for the hospital. This required a direct involvement in the teaching and development of mainly undergraduate students. I regularly teach postgraduates, midwives and associated medical professions both formally and informally. I am an honorary lecturer for Manchester University Medical School and have been an examiner for several years. I am involved in the assessment of students from a variety of different year groups.

I have expertise in all aspects of gynaecology I a member of the British Menopause Society and regularly manage both straightforward and complex menopausal problems I perform minimal access surgery including laparoscopic cystectomies, oopherectomies and adhesiolysis Additionally I extensive experience performing major abdominal or vaginal surgery
