GMC reg: 4734165Mr McMurtrie trained at the University of Cambridge and Royal Free Hospital London. He undertook his orthopaedic training in the West Midlands including 18 months specialising in upper limb surgery at the Hand and Upper Limb Unit in Oswestry. In 2011 he undertook specialist hand surgery training on the 12 month Advanced Training Post in Hand Surgery Fellowship in Manchester, where he gained considerable experience in microsurgery and plastic surgery of the hand and was awarded the British Hand Diploma (BSSH and University of Manchester). He completed his training with a further 12 month Upper Limb Fellowship in shoulder, elbow and hand surgery at the Wrightington Hospital Upper Limb Unit in 2013. He was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital, North Wales in February 2013. His interests include carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral nerve surgery, Dupuytren's disease, trigger finger, fracture surgery, osteoarthritis, nerve and tendon injuries, wrist surgery, shoulder surgery, keyhole surgery, arthroscopy, rotator cuff tears and subacromial impingement.
