Having obtained his basic medical degrees (MB ChB) with Honours and winning the top prize in surgery from Manchester University in 1992, Mr Huang did his Senior House Officer rotation at St. Mary’s Hospital, London. He became a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and won the Penrose May Prize from the same institution in 1996. He was a junior registrar both at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe General Hospital between 1997 and 1998. After two years at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital (Imperial College, London) where he obtained his Master of Surgery degree from University of London, he became a clinical lecturer/specialist registrar in surgery at Barts & The London Hospitals between 2001 and 2003. He was then a senior specialist registrar in surgery at University College and Middlesex Hospitals, London for a further year.
After completing his specialty training in general and colorectal surgery in 2004, he spent a further six months at St. Marks’ Hospital, The Hospital for Intestinal and Colorectal Disorders, London as a resident surgical officer. Here he gained further experience in treating and operating on complex colorectal conditions. He also undertook an exchange fellowship to Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto. On his return from Canada, he spent a further year at the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit, Guildford as a laparoscopic fellow.
Mr Huang has been a consultant surgeon at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust since 2006 with a particular interest in colorectal surgery. He sees many patients with bowel conditions including cancer, diverticular disease, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, haemorrhoids (piles) and offers different treatments for this condition, including THD and HALO.

National Bowel Cancer Audit Programme publishes individual data for surgeons' outcome, and this information is available to the public through www.acpgbi.org.uk/surgeon-outcomes or NHS Patient Choice websites From the audit data over a five year period (2010-2015), Mr Andrew Huang was the second highest volume colorectal cancer surgeon in the country with a very low mortality (death) rate of 0.9% at 90 days, three times less than the national average of 3%.
