Mr Andrew Chukwuemeka

Mr Chukwuemeka is Medical Director at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare, and was previously Clinical Director for Cardiac Sciences (Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery). His clinical interests include Heart Valve surgery, Coronary Artery Bypass surgery, chest trauma, and Complex Aortic Surgery including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). Mr Chukwuemeka was the Royal College of Surgeons’ Regional Specialty Advisor and served on the Medical Technologies Committee at NICE. He has previously chaired the Adult Cardiac Surgery committee of the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons in the UK and Ireland. He currently serves on the NHS England Clinical Reference Group for Cardiac Services, the NHS England - London Clinical Senate Council and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Mr Chukwuemeka trained in general and cardiothoracic surgery in London and undertook a Fellowship in Toronto, Canada, prior to appointment as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon in 2006.
