Mr Rumian is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in the treatment of patients with problems of the shoulder and elbow. This includes the whole spectrum of modern minimally invasive, keyhole and arthroscopic techniques, shoulder and elbow replacements, joint resurfacing procedures, revision surgery and complex reconstruction. He was a scholarship pupil at St Paul’s School in London, studied medicine at Cambridge University (Queens’ College) and completed his clinical training at Imperial School of Medicine, qualifying as a doctor in 1998. His specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery was on the highly regarded North-West Thames rotation in London, followed by extensive training in shoulder and elbow surgery and reconstruction. He was selected for a prestigious year-long advanced training fellowship working with one of the world’s leading surgeons, Professor Pascal Boileau, in Nice, France. He was also awarded an MD higher research degree by the University of London for work on tendon biology. He was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Welwyn Garden City. He is the Deputy Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics and has been recognised with Clinical Excellence Awards. His private practice is based at the One Hatfield Hospital, Hatfield, Pinehill Hospital, Hitchin and Spire Harpenden Hospital.
