Miss Pandora Hadfield

After qualifying from St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School in 1986, I started my career in General Practice, gaining a Distinction in the Membership exam of The Royal College of General Practitioners and further qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery. I so enjoyed ENT that I decided to specialise in it, subsequently obtaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. My ENT specialist training took place in several London Teaching Hospitals including The Royal Marsden Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital (Gray’s Inn Road), The Royal Brompton Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. During this time I developed a special interest in Rhinology (medical and surgical treatment of the nose) and Paediatric ENT. I broadened my surgical experience during Travel Fellowships to Paediatric ENT and Rhinology centres both in the USA (Boston) and in France (Paris and Nancy). I spent several years at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and was appointed Clinical Fellow twice during my training (at the time the only Paediatric ENT Fellowship in the United Kingdom). As an NHS ENT Consultant since 2003 at The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, I continue with my special interest in Paediatric ENT. I run dedicated Children’s ENT clinics at both hospitals, in which I see a wide variety of ENT-related problems in children. In addition to publishing numerous scientific medical papers, most as first author, and undertaking clinical research, I contributed the Paediatric ENT chapter to the textbook “Practical Paediatric Problems in Primary Care”. I was educated at Rugby School and Préalpina School, Montreux, Switzerland. I am married (to a surgeon) and have three children.
