Having graduated at The University of Nottingham and then undertaking basic surgical training in Nottingham and Sydney, Australia I moved to Edinburgh. I completed Orthopaedic training in Edinburgh. I then travelled to Brisbane, Australia for a hip and knee replacement fellowship under the tutelage of Professor Ross Crawford - one of Australia's leading research surgeons. Professor Crawford was the first Australian surgeon to perform a robotically-assisted hip replacement. I have presented research work both in the UK and at various European meetings. I am married to a local GP with three boys. I enjoy playing golf, racquet sports and keeping fit. I am a member of Bruntsfield Links and Edinburgh Sports Club. I have acted as a contractor to the Scottish Rugby Union.
