Dr (Richard) Andrew Archbold

Dr Archbold graduated from The London Hospital Medical College where he was awarded prizes in clinical medicine and surgery. He trained in coronary artery stenting at The London Chest Hospital and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital. He has held a number of clinical leadership roles at regional and national level. For example, he is the current British Cardiovascular Society Honorary Secretary. He was BCS Vice President for Clinical Standards (2019-2022), Royal College of Physicians Regional Adviser for Central & Northeast London (2017-2023), and a member of the national Clinical Reference Group for Cardiac Services (2012-2018). Dr Archbold has an interest in the education and training of doctors. He was a Foundation Training Programme Director for six years and is an educational supervisor to doctors of all training grades. Dr Archbold's main current research interests are acute coronary syndromes (heart attacks) and cardiovascular complications following non-cardiac surgery. He is a local investigator for the VISION Study, which is a worldwide study of the causes of heart attacks after non-cardiac surgery. He was awarded an MD from the University of London for his research in abnormal heart rhythms after coronary artery bypass graft surgery.

Dr Archbold is an experienced consultant cardiologist who sees patients with a wide range of problems including palpitation, breathlessness, chest pain, and high blood pressure. He specialises in the management of coronary artery disease.
