GMC reg: 1631087I qualified at King's College, London and after junior jobs in London, Truro and Plymouth I undertook a doctorate in bio-engineering at Sussex University. While there I also started training in cardiology at the Royal Sussex county Hospital and then completed this in London at Guy's Hospital and RPMS, Hammersmith Hospital. I was appointed consultant cardiologist at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and clinical lecturer at Bristol University in 1989 until 2015. I now continue in private practice at the Spire and Checterfield (Nuffield) Hospital, Bristol and as visiting cardiologist to KEMH, Bermuda (mainly emergency inpatient work). I have undertaken research in many areas of technical cardiology, especially design of pacemakers and ICDs, device implantation surgical techniques (especially concealed implants in women), electrophysiology (introducing RF catheter ablation to the UK in 1990), interventional cardiology and therapeutics. Over the last 10 years I have become increasingly interested in a holistic approach long-term cardiac conditions and non-pharmacological treatments.
