GMC reg: 2569266I am now engaged in full time private practice, having retired from the NHS in June 2022. My special interests include the menopause, fibroid disease, recurrent miscarriage and general gynaecology. In the area of the menopause, I am very interested in the debate on the use of testosterone supplementation. I also have a major interest in the largely unmet needs of women diagnosed with breast cancer who suffer debilitating menopausal symptoms either as a result of the treatment for the breast cancer, or their natural menopause - seeking always to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to find solutions that are safe and effective, and thereby improve their quality of life. With regard to fibroid disease, over the years I have established a national and international reputation based on my research, extensive publications in high impact factor journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature and Nature Medicine, and clinical activity that includes surgery for very complex fibroid disease. My personal chair (professorship) was awarded on the basis of research, publications and research grant acquisition. Despite years of research the world over, in 50% of cases the cause of recurrent miscarriage remains an enigma: I carry out the full investigative protocol for the problem, adopting a holistic and empathetic approach, while avoiding dubious investigations and treatments in situations where, fortunately, the vast majority of patients go on to have successful pregnancies.
