Dr Helen Cox

Dr Helen Cox is one of the few recognised UK specialists in paediatric allergy. She has extensive experience in the management of children with food allergy, eczema, asthma, hayfever, drug and insect sting allergy. She adopts a multi-system approach to the management of children with allergic disease, many of whom have complex needs.  She read medicine at Cape Town University, followed by specialist training in paediatrics, immunology and allergy at Guys, Great Ormond street and the John Radcliffe Hospital. She was awarded her medical doctorate for research into eczema genetics. She is a consultant in Paediatric Allergy at Imperial College NHS Trust, and previous clinical course leader and current lecturer for the MSC in Clinical Allergy. She is an author of the NICE guideline for eczema and has helped develop national care pathways in allergy with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and is still actively involved in the  RCPCH primary allergy training (PAT) programme. Her clinical service offers a comprehensive allergy assessment which can include skin prick testing, lung function testing, blood testing, food and drug challenge testing.  In addition her service provides injectable and sublingual immunotherapy for allergic asthma and rhinitis, and advice regarding the management of difficult eczema.
