GMC reg: 5206997Professor Dushyant Sharma is a highly experienced consultant physician in endocrinology , diabetes and general internal medicine in Liverpool and Wirral . He specialises in diabetes and pituitary and adrenal disorders as well as problems affecting the thyroid . He is also expert in the treatment of hypogonadism , polycystic ovary syndrome , menstrual irregularities and post-menopausal symptoms. Dr Dushyant Sharma qualified in medicine in India before relocating to the UK to undertake further training, including in diabetes and endocrinology at the Mersey Deanery in Liverpool. He was awarded membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003 and was appointed as a consultant at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in 2009 where he is also now clinical lead in endocrinology and diabetes. Professor Sharma is now a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and sees private patients at Spire Liverpool Hospital and Spire Murrayfield Hospital , Wirral. Dr Sharma is a leading name in education. He has been the Royal College of Physicians’ College tutor for Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the hospital’s lead for diabetes education . Additionally, he is both the founder and director of Medexcell Education, an organisation which runs training programmes on leadership and teaching skills as well as critical appraisal of medical literature for medical professionals, as he strongly believes in evidence-based practice. He was also previously the trainee teaching lead for diabetes and endocrinology trainees at the Mersey Deanery and continues to actively contribute to clinical research . His academic work is published in peer-reviewed journals .
