Dr Deepak Suri was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in 2002 following training and experience at several major teaching hospitals in London. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2006.
He is a member of The GI Unit at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth as well as consulting at 1 Welbeck and Highgate Private Hospital. His NHS practices are at The Whittington Hospital and University College London Hospital (where he runs a dedicated liver clinic). At the Whittington he has been the clinical lead for endoscopy, and Gastroenterology and is currently the Clinical Director for medicine. He is clinical lead for the Viral Hepatitis clinic at UCL Hospitals.
He is very experienced in the treatment of common digestive tract symptoms such as heartburn, reflux disorders, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, and rectal bleeding, as well as investigating liver disorders and assessing liver health.
He endeavours to make patients feel heard comfortable and at ease, giving them the attention and time they deserve. He uses his experience and expertise, alongside the patient’s concerns and quality of life to create the best treatment plans possible.
He also uses latest endoscopic techniques such as underwater colonoscopy to minimize discomfort which means the amount of analgesia a patient requires during procedures is optimised. These are reflected in the excellent comfort and patient satisfaction scores following endoscopic procedures.
