Dr David Walker

Dr David Walker qualified with distinction from Imperial College London in 2000. He trained in London on the North West Thames Gastroenterology rotation which provided him with excellent training in all aspects of gastroenterology. Dr Walker subsequently spent three years as a clinical research fellow at Imperial College London studying the role of genetics and gut bacteria in the aetiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine in 2011. He has published his research in a number of international peer reviewed medical journals. In addition, he has written five book chapters and given invited talks for the charity Crohn's and Colitis UK. Dr Walker has a keen interest in teaching and training, he completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at the Royal College of Physicians/University College London. He is a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Bristol and teaches medical students at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. Dr Walker is an accredited endoscopist with the Joint Advisory Group of GI Endoscopy (JAG) and is an endoscopy trainer on National endoscopy training courses.
