GMC reg: 3076008I studied medicine at Cambridge University and St Thomas' Hospital , qualifying as a doctor in 1985, and I specialised in cardiology from 1989 onwards. I undertook registrar, research fellowship, and senior registrar posts in cardiology at Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, and St Mary's Hospitals before taking up a one year appointment in 1996 as a British Heart Foundation International Fellow at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. I have practised full time as consultant cardiologist at Hammersmith Hospital from 1997 to the present. I was elected fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1999 and fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society in 2014. I also work as consultant cardiologist at Watford General Hospital where I undertake regular ablation and cardiac devices lists, and run outpatient clinics. I have admitting rights to the Wellington Hospital in London. Over the years, I have been committed to the training of many cardiologists who are now practising successfully as consultants both in the NHS and abroad. I collaborate with colleagues in undertaking clinical research and am an co-author on over 75 original papers. I understand the importance of clinical accountability and maintaining standards , and am pleased to be part of a tight-knit group of cardiologists at Imperial College Healthcare who meet at least weekly to discuss clinical cases and review each others' work.

My training and clinical practice have encompassed all aspects of cardiology in adult patients, but I have particularly focused on the management of cardiac arrhythmias. I have extensive experience in the use of catheter ablation and implanted cardiac pacemaker/defibrillators to treat heart rhythm disorders and heart failure.
