GMC reg: 3557859Having initially qualified and trained at Southampton University Teaching Hospital, I was appointed a specialty training post in the prestigious North West Thames training rotation. I spent over three years at the internationally renowned St Mark's Hospital, gaining experience in colonoscopic techniques, nutrition and inflammatory bowel disease before rotating through Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital aquiring expert training in advanced colonoscopy and ERCP. Following placements in both East and West Hertfordshire and further experience at St Mary's Hospital in London, I was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist in East and North Hertfordshire in 2003. I have been a consultant in private practice since 2003 and have recently stepped down after seven and a half years as Clinical Director for Gastroenterology within the trust. During this time I oversaw the development and building of two new endoscopy units, the establishment of the Digestive Diseases Unit at the Lister site and appointed 5 new consultant colleagues and 3 long term locums. I also established a 24/7 acute Gastrointestinal bleeding rota and Gastroenterologist of the week service which has enhanced Gastroenterology provision within East and North Hertfordshire. I continue to maintain a busy out-patient workload and high quality endoscopy service with excellent clinical outcomes in both colonoscopy and ERCP. I also provide a palliative colonic stenting service and recently established a pyloric and duodenal stenting service within the trust.
