Dr Babulayeb Mukhopadhyay

Having undertaken Masters degree in Endocrinology from Kings College, London, Dr Mukhopadhyay went on to receive specialist endocrine training at the renowned centres, Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital, London and St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London. He completed his training in Glasgow teaching hospitals. Dr Mukhopadhyay has presented widely in local, national and international meetings and his research was awarded best national presentation at Diabetes UK Conference 2004 in Birmingham. Dr Mukhopadhyay has been a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist since 2005, and he was Clinical Lead for the General Medicine unit at Hairmyres Hospital until 2018. He has extensive experience in the management of adult endocrine disorders, with particular interest in thyroid disorders and type 2 diabetes. He has been the lead for endocrine services in Lanarkshire, and has co-authored local guidelines. He is presently the Clinical lead for Realistic Medicine in NHS Lanarkshire, which is a key policy of the Chief Medical Officer of Scotland. Dr Mukhopadhyay has a keen interest in training and education. He is an examiner for MRCP PACES examinations; he sits on the Medical Education Board of RCPSG. In May 2016 the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh and NHS Lanarkshire awarded him the "William Cullen" prize for his significant contribution to service innovation, resulting in significant improvements in patient care.
