GMC reg: 6045301Dr Ludman is a Consultant Cardiologist with experience in all areas of cardiology. He sees patients for all problems that may be related to the heart, including chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, high blood pressure and reducing the risk of future heart problems. His sub-specialty interests include heart failure, cardiomyopathy (disease of the heart muscle), heart valve disease and diagnosis with advanced cardiovascular imaging techniques (MRI, CT and echocardiography). He collaborates regularly with local military services to provide specialist advice. Dr Ludman qualified from University of Wales College of Medicine in 2002 before pursuing post graduate training in a number of prestigious London hospitals as well as undertaking an international fellowship in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr Ludman continues to actively participate in leading research studies and has published a number of research papers, book chapters and textbooks. He has contributed to NICE guidelines on acute heart failure and is an Honorary Lecturer, teaching at the University of Exeter medical school. Dr Ludman has lead the heart failure service at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital since 2014 and was the Cardiology Department Lead Clinician from 2019-2022 before becoming a Clinical Director within the Medical Division. Dr Ludman sat on the British Cardiovascular Society Council 2018-2021 and is the current Chair of the British Cardiovascular Society Guidelines & Practice Committee and Vice President (Elect) for Clinical Standards. Dr Ludman is a keen cyclist, skier and hill walker and can no longer run quite as fast as his boys(!).
