Clough, Timothy

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in adult foot and ankle disorders and sports injuries. I currently offer foot and ankle consultations, advice and surgery following referrals from a wide variety of premiership football teams, super league rugby teams and a local rugby union team. I am a keen researcher and have published articles on ankle and big toe joint replacements, daycase forefoot surgery, trauma foot surgery and the role of PRP in plantar fasciitis.  I present regularly at national and international meetings.  My current areas of research include the clinical outcome of ankle replacements, treatments options for failed bunion surgery and newer treatment outcomes for chronic achilles tendinopathy. I have been Chairman of Faculty for the Foot & Ankle module for an MSc in Sports Orthopaedics at the University of Salford and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University.  I have served as External Examiner for the School of Medicine BMSc programme at the University of Dundee. I have been invited onto the International Faculty evaluating ankle joint replacement design, am a Specialist Adviser to NICE for the Interventional Procedures Programme, am Deputy Editor of the peer reviewed specialist medical journal ‘Foot’, sit on the International Advisory Board, and currently sit on Outcomes Committee for the British Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS).  I am a member of the ODEP/Beyond Compliance BOFAS group monitoring foot and ankle surgery in the UK and am on the National Ankle Arthritis Network Steering Committee. I am an accredited member of ‘The Academy of Experts’ and ‘UK Register of Expert Witness’.
