I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in hip and knee surgery. I perform a large number of hip and knee replacement operations - over 500 per year. I also have an interest in revision knee replacements and the treatment of the young patient with an arthritic knee. I also offer partial knee replacements - unicompartmental and patello-femoral joint replacements where clinically appropriate. In 2024 I was the first surgeon in the UK to perform robotic knee replacements using the Velys Robotic Assisted Solution. I routinely use robotics for my total and partial knee replacements. I graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in London. My subsequent orthopaedic training was in the East Midlands Deanery in Leicester and Northamptonshire. Following completion of my training, I spent 18 months undertaking further subspecialist training with internationally renowned surgeons; Peter James and Andrew Manktelow in Nottingham and Tim Spalding in Coventry. In February 2016 I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in hip and knee surgery at the City Hospital Campus, Nottingham University Hospitals. I also have a private practice at Spire Nottingham Hospital and at The Park Hospital. I am actively involved in research into hip and knee surgery. I have published in respected orthopaedic journals and presented my work at international meetings. I am the lead knee surgeon responsible for running our East Midlands Specialist Orthopaedic Network meeting, and maintain a keen interest in monitoring the outcomes of surgery. This experience ensures that I stay up to date and practice evidence based medicine - particularly important when choosing implants and when offering new treatments. I am a member of the British Hip Society, the British Association for Surgery of the Knee, the European Knee Society and the British Orthopaedic Association. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
